The Sportscraft Playoff Team of Week 5 is awarded to the U15B Northeast Eagles for their outstanding post-season performance.  

The Eagles finished the regular season with a record of 4 wins, 15 losses and 5 ties – good only for 4th place in the five team division and 22 points out of first place. Some how that record must have gotten erased from their collective memories because a different team has shown up for the playoffs.

In the quarter-finals, the Eagles cranked up their artillery, opening up a 6-4 win over the Blades in game 1 before losing a 3-2 squeaker in game 2. Then the fire power returned as the Eagles clinch the first-to-4-points series with another 6-4 win in game 3.

The semi-finals brought even a bigger challenge as the Eagles faced the first-place Paradise Warriors. Tougher competition brought with it lower scores. The Warriors claimed the opener with a 3-1 victory on home ice, but the Eagles rallied back with a 3-2 win in game 2. The Eagles then clinched a berth in the finals with an exciting 1-0 win on the road.

In Week 5 action, the Eagles split the first two games of the final against the Southern Shore Breakers - a 2-0 opening loss, followed by a convincing 6-3 win to force a game 3 in the series.

We salute the U15B Eagles for their grit, heart and determination in this playoff run. Worthy recipients indeed of the Sportscraft Team of Week 5. Stay tune for what Week 6 brings along!

The Scotiabank DJHL in partnership with Sportscraft is pleased to present the Sportscraft Team of the Week once again during our playoff season. We invite Team Managers to give us a short pitch as to why their team should be considered based on performance, sportsmanship and/or effort. Last year, teams that finished deep in the divisional standings but turned it around in the playoffs claimed the weekly title often. Always include a group photo with the nomination. The weekly deadline for submissions is Sunday night at 9pm and should be sent to djhl.director@gmail.com. Winning teams will receive prizes for all winning teammates compliments of Sportscraft.
