The DJHL, acting on a directive from the various Presidents of all Minor Hockey Associations in the Eastern Zone, will be hosting an all-female U13 team in its U13B division. This team will be known as the Scotiabank Puffins and will be part of the Scotiabank Pooled Hockey Program offered by the DJHL. The League will select these players, recruit a coaching staff (see Volunteer Application on League Info page), register them in the Hockey Canada Registry, and support their development within the minor hockey stream.

The Puffins player selection will target the top U13 female players in the region, so only very competitive players are encouraged to sign up for try-outs that will begin around September 9^th.

The Puffins will aim to compete in Minor Provincials at Easter Break time, but this team will not be participating in Girls U13AA or AAA competition either at the provincial or Atlantic level.

Interested parents can register their daughter now using the hyperlink found on our home page under the title of 2024 DJHL Try-out Form (blue shaded text box). The base try-out fee is $150, which guarantees a player a minimum of three sessions. An extra $50 provides players with a non-mandatory, un-evaluated set of three practices prior to camp start. Selected players will pay a $1,200 registration fee to DJHL for the season. This fee covers a 24 game regular season plus play-offs, HNL fees, year end banquet, 40 practice hours, etc.
